Until the end of the year, the discount for free travel on public transport in Riga will be extended for Ukrainians
On Monday, 9 June, at a meeting of the Traffic and Transport Committee, the deputies decided to extend the period of the 100% discount for Ukrainian residents on public transport in Riga until 31 December 2025.
To receive the travel discount, Ukrainian civilians must be registered in the administrative territory of the municipality and receive the travel discount in accordance with the procedure established by Rīgas satiksme.
Taking into account the statistics on the number of registered travels for Ukrainian citizens in the Riga Support Centre for the period from July to December 2024, it is estimated that the number of registrations could reach 1.8 million.
The matter will be further discussed at the Riga City Council hearing.
